Vision

Loreto Centre in Crumlin was founded in 1998 by the Loreto sisters to meet the needs of the local community by providing a friendly, safe and supportive environment where people can learn, grow and connect.

Mission

Loreto Centre aims to provide a space of healing, education, growth and development for the benefit of the community we serve. 

Objectives

  • To provide counselling/psychotherapy services and adult education to the community
  • To provide an atmosphere of welcome and hospitality, a place where every person can come, share, listen, reflect or find peace
  • To respond to the needs of the local community by providing classes to promote healthy living, self-care, growth and development of personal and professional skills 
  • To enable and empower people to develop their own resources for more creative and effective living and to participate in building a supportive community network 
  • To establish co-operative links with the agencies and networks in both statutory and voluntary sectors at local and national level.

Our Governance

Anca Lupu – Centre Manager

Anca Lupu, originally from Romania, has been active in the NGO sector for over 18 years. She has supported individuals and groups from many different communities, focusing on cultural, educational, humanitarian, and integration events in Ireland.
Before joining the Loreto Centre, Anca worked as Development Manager with the Citizens Information Service and held several other management roles in the Irish community sector.
She first qualified as a teacher in Romania, and after moving to Ireland, she continued her education in areas such as Community Development and Interculturalism, Life and Parent Coaching, and Volunteer Facilitation and Management.
Anca is known as a true people’s person—her knowledge, experience, and positive attitude have inspired many and played a key role in the growth of numerous organisations in Ireland.

The Board of Management

Eugene Banks (Community Representative – Chairperson)

Eugene is a career civil servant with experience in the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Justice and Equality. His background is in the strategic use of technology, budgetary management, and public service delivery. A keen golfer and practitioner of Tai Chi and Mindfulness, Eugene brings his skills and dedication to support the development of Loreto Centre.

Tom is a retired Senior Community Officer with Dublin City Council. He has promoted participation and responsibility in local communities and served on boards across the voluntary sector, including home help services, youth programmes, and Citizens Information Service. His broad community experience supports the work of the Centre.

Emily, B.Comm, N.T, M.Sc, taught for 35 years at primary and secondary levels, including 18 years in Loreto Senior Primary School, Crumlin. A long-standing member of the Loreto Past Pupils’ Union, she has held roles as president and treasurer and is active in the Justice and Peace Group.

Patricia, BA, HDE, IAHIP, ICP, is a graduate of Mater Dei Institute, UCD, NUI Maynooth, and Dublin Counselling & Therapy Centre. She taught for 20 years before moving into leadership within her congregation. A qualified psychotherapist, she has worked for over 20 years in therapy, including senior roles at Kedron Counselling and Therapy Centre. She now works in private practice.

Bronwyn has volunteered in hockey for over 40 years, serving in roles such as Club Captain, President, and Development Officer with Loreto Hockey Clubs. With a professional background in banking, she joined the Loreto Centre Board during the pandemic, contributing her leadership skills and commitment to community development.

Tom is a Certified Public Accountant with over 40 years of experience in finance, property and facilities, HR, and company management. He joined the Board in 2023 as a community representative, bringing extensive expertise in financial and organisational oversight.

Noelle is a Loreto Sister and former Superior General of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Rome. She returned to Ireland in 2024 and joined the Loreto Centre Board, contributing her international leadership experience and Loreto values to the Centre’s mission.

Governance Compliance

The Loreto Centre Crumlin complies with The Governance Code for the Community, Voluntary and Charitable Sector in Ireland.
The Loreto Centre are fully compliant with  the Charities Regulator Authority (CRA).
